Lately Emma seems to think that I am out to get her. She blames a lot of stuff on me and I probably only do half of them. ;) Like today for example, I fixed her a sandwich and she was walking around and eating it. Brooklyn woke up from her nap and I ran up to get her and when I came down Emma was upset.
Emma: "Where's my sandwich?"
Me: "I don't know Emma, where'd you put it?"
Emma: "You lost it!"
Me: "What the crap Emma, I did not! I wasn't even in here!"
Emma: "Oh.... I ate it."
Oh my gosh, seriously? I don't even know what to do with this kid sometimes.
She also tries to punish me all the time. Yesterday she told me to go to time-out for not being nice to Brooklyn. I told her, "Emma, I'm not going to time-out". She said, "No, you need to." That may be true but I refuse.
She kept turning off and on the lights the other day and I told her stop, she didn't. So I walked over to her and slapped her hand away from the light switch, but as I followed through I hit her in the nose. She started crying and I started laughing and gave her a hug and said I was sorry. She then began to lecture me... "Mom, don't hit! It's not berry nice! It really hurts. Okay?" I wonder if she'll always be this way. I sure do love her a lot.
Brooklyn will be 11 months old tomorrow!!! She is now growling, saying "hi" and "ball", she waves and claps and stands up on her own. She has taken 5 steps in a row so far. We're still working with her. She smiles and laughs all the time. I have the best family. Amazing husband and wonderful daughters.

April 4, 2012
So I took a break from blogging because we were in the process of moving and moving is a lot more work than I remember. I can't wait to do it again in 5 months.... This new place where we are staying is quite nice and it has a big living room, big TV and a lot of playgrounds and grass so it'll be fun to be here for the summer. Now that we are moved in I can say that I think it was worth the effort.
Today was our first Sunday in our new ward. It was okay, 1st Sunday's are always a little weird with introducing yourselves 100 times, everyone learning everything about you but you can't even remember anybody's names. Well in our new ward today we found out that Brooklyn is one strong little girl! Today at church Brooklyn was next to Jonathan and he leaned forward to grab something from the diaper bag, Brooklyn was standing on our bench and grabbing onto the bench in front of us trying to lean over and see the baby sitting in front of us. Next thing I know Brooklyn had taken a step off of our bench, her feet went down but she didn't let go with her hands. The only thing saving her were her strong arms. She just sat there hanging with her arms bent, it looked like she was doing pull-ups. She didn't cry or whine or anything. Jonathan glanced up at her and was shocked to see her hanging there and quickly helped her. The people behind us were pretty amazed too. She might be a skinny little sucker but that girl's strong!
We were over at Harmony's the other day (taking a break from unpacking) and I brought some pringles over. Emma was playing with a neighbor girl outside but she kept coming in for some pringles. Finally I said, "Fine, you can have some more but you've got to do something in order to get some." I suggested singing or dancing and she said she'd sing a song. She sang "ABC'S" so Harmony, Kenny and I clapped and I gave her some chips. Next time she came in and sang "I'm a child of God". The next time she said she wanted to sing Brooklyn's song... I was confused and asked "how does that one go?" She started bouncing her head and singing a song that I sometimes sing when I change Brooklyn's diaper. It was "Shipoopi" from The Music Man but she changed it up some, she sang, "She's poopy, she's poopy!" Harmony and I started laughing and said, "how does the rest go?" She sang, "She's poopy, she's poopy, she's poopy... Brooklyn is so poopy..." We laughed pretty hard and I said, "that's Brooklyn's song huh?" She shook her head yes and got some chips. I wonder how long that'll be Brooklyn's song?

I've been trying to write a new post every Sunday but this Sunday was a little hectic with visiting Jonathan's parents in Salmon. It was fun to see Crystal and her family, we kind of wish they didn't live so far away in Alaska so we could hang out more often. Brandy was there and his parents, it's always fun when family gets together. We got the Grandparents to babysit while we went and watched the Hunger Games... AMAZING! I wont give anything away but there's a part in the movie that makes you jump and I was sitting by my neice Katarina and she about jumped out of her chair so of course that made me jump twice as hard as I would normally. Good thing Jonathan was holding onto my hand or I don't know where I would have ended up. Just kidding, I didn't jump that bad. By the way, Jonathan didn't jump at all... no idea how that's even possible. Any normal person would have jumped.
Tonight we were saying prayers and every night we take turns with Jonathan, me and Emma. Tonight it was Emma's turn so we all knelt down and said, "Guess who's turn it is tonight Emma?" She said, "ummm, daddy's turn!" We said, "Nope, it's your turn." She acted annoyed and held out her hands and said, "NO! I said them last night!" Which she did not. I guess we've said that before and that got us out of saying them for the night so she was trying it.
The other night Jonathan was saying prayers and sometimes his prayers get a little lengthy (they're beautiful prayers, just a little long for a two year old) and half way into the prayer Emma says, "In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." So we start to snicker and Jonathan continues on with his prayer and a little bit later Emma tries it again, "In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." So we start laughing and Jonathan ended his prayer.
Brooklyn likes to annoy her big sister. If Emma is eating something, Brooklyn wants it. If Emma is playing with something, Brooklyn wants it. If Emma is sitting on something, Brooklyn wants it. So today after being pestered for a bit about something Emma comes and sits by me on the couch and sighs. She shakes her head and says, "Brooklyn is so annoying today." I busted up laughing! Is this really my little two year old?
Love my life!

Happy St. Patty's day! I used to love this day because even if I forgot to wear green, I have green eyes, so nobody could ever pinch me!
Well we had Jonathan's sister, Crystal, and her three kids come down from Alaska to visit this weekend, and his brother stopped in for a bit as well. It was a lot of fun! We were all sitting down to dinner the other night, Emma was at the table with the kids. Harmony and Kenny knocked on the door and came in to visit for a second and Emma stands up in her chair and puts her arms out and yells, "My Friends!" She loves her Aunt Harmony and Uncle Kenny, it's nice having family nearby. Today when we got home from church Crystal and her kids had left and Emma asked, "where are my cousins?" I told her that they had left and she said, "Okay, go get them!!" I tried explaining to her that they were gone and she keeps saying "I need my kids" I think she'll get it eventually. She loved having them here!
Brooklyn has one tooth already and not one or two but THREE other teeth on the way! Poor kid, it's been kind of rough on her too. It'll be so cute when they finally come in though. She'll have her two front bottom teeth and the top teeth that are coming in aren't the two front ones but the ones right next to the front. I have no idea what they are really called, the only teeth I know are molers, canines and your two front teeth. When they come in it'll look like her two front teeth got knocked out, or a vampire. Love it.
So Jonathan and I are released from our callings in church because we are moving across town in 2 weeks. We were kind of excited about it because we thought we could just go to church and relax and not have to worry about everything... however, we still have two little kids. Today was not a good day for them either. We have sacrament last and Emma was acting like she had just eaten sugar for the past two hours in nursery! And Brooklyn had just woke up from a nap and was ready to play. We pretty much had a wrestling match in our little pew for 30 minutes. I think I won.

Brooklyn got her first tooth this week!!! She looks so cute! She's such a sweet and happy little girl.
So Lindsey moved out yesterday and headed to Utah to live with Scott and Shannon. We started moving Brooklyn's stuff into her room and Emma wanted to help. So she helped us push the crib, the rocking chair, ottoman, blankets, and the boppy into the room. Next thing I know Emma goes in her room and tries to pull her bed into Lindsey's room as well. I guess she thought we were all moving in there. She was pretty upset when I told her she couldn't move into Lindsey's old room.
Emma is so stinkin' friendly. The weather has been pretty good lately so we were outside playing in our front yard. Jonathan is such a good dad and Emma loves playing with him, Jonathan and her were kicking the ball back and forth when two girls were walking by on the sidewalk and Emma yells, "HI!" and waves. The girl's said "Hi" and smiled. Emma looked at Jonathan and smiled, then she got real serious and said, "Say hi!" Jonathan just started laughing so Emma ran over to him and grabbed his hand and tried to wave it and said, "Hi!". She's determined to make us friendlier as well.
Although Emma might have the friendliness down, her social skills can definitely use some work. Last night we went out to eat at Pizza Hut and as we were leaving there were two legit African's sitting on a bench near the door waiting to be seated. Emma ran out in front of us and when I came around the corner Emma was standing about two feet in front of these guys with her mouth open and just staring at them as if she were in a daze. The guys took it really well. They both started laughing and one of them in his African accent said, "silly kid.... never seen a black man!" I felt bad and smiled apologetically at them. It's a good thing she's only two years old and her innocents can save her now. That's what we get for living in Rexburg Idaho I guess.

I think Brooklyn is going to be a singer. The last week when I've been putting her to bed I sing her some songs. Every time I sing, she hums. When I stop she stops. Then I begin again and she begins to hum. I don't know if she's trying to do a duet with me or drown out my voice so she doesn't have to hear me sing, but I think it's pretty cute.
Emma has been a protector of Brooklyn lately. We go to a play group every Thursday and some of the kids are a little rough. Emma lets things slide usually when kids take away her stuff but when they take stuff away from Brooklyn Emma gets loud. She runs over and takes it back from them and yells at them that Brooklyn is her sister! Then she'll stand right next to Brooklyn for a little while so nobody will touch her or her stuff. I usually don't allow Emma to yell at other little kids and be rough with them, but I can't help but be proud of her for being a good big sister. Then as soon as we get home Emma takes Brooklyn's toys away from her. Go figure.
I love my little girls!

Tomorrow Brooklyn will be 9 months old! She is growing up so fast. She is learning to wave, although if we ever want to show anyone she refuses to do it of course. Stubborn child. Brooklyn does this thing where she purses her lips, wrinkles her nose and breaths in and out real hard. It's the funniest thing ever. If you do it to her, about 80% of the time she does it back. I'll try to get a video of her doing it... with my new camera!!! We bought a NIKON with 12 mega pixels and has High Def video recording. I've been wanting one for so long now and our phone camera's have just not been doing our little kids justice so I'm so happy we finally got one! Thank you tax returns!
Emma's new thing this week is peeing on the floor right next to the toilet. Then she takes her pants off and goes and throws it in the dirty clothes and tells me to clean it up. Really Emma? What the crap happened to her? Last week she was a pro and this week she could care less. I've been praying for patience with her and she is making me earn it. One day this last week I cleaned up spilled milk, spilled cereal on the carpet, pee off the ground (twice) and on the countertop (again), and a broken egg on the kitchen floor all caused by Emma. She's definitely keeping me busy.
Emma's such a smart little fart, she makes me laugh with her grown-up comments. Yesterday I was getting something out of the fridge and I started to shut the door and hit my elbow on the door and I was saying, "Ouch, Fetch, Ouch Ouch Ouch, Fetch." Emma said, "what's wrong mom?" So I told her that I hit my elbow on the door and she responds, "Mom... have to be careful, okay?" "Get hurt if you're not careful." Thanks Emma. I must say that kind of stuff to her. I guess I'll try to be more careful next time.

2-18-2012
So I thought it'd be fun to start posting updates of my little family. Here we go, we'll see how often and how long I can keep this up...
Well Emma is officially potty trained! It was a lot harder and took a lot longer than I thought it would. I don't know why I pushed her to be potty trained so early. I thought it was going to be so much nicer not having to change her diaper but I think I would prefer to change diapers than clean up dirty panties and floors and chairs and counter tops (yes it happened once) and the floor at the store (embarrassing time for both of us). I am so glad it is over with! Emma's big thing now is that she wants to do it "myself!" She gets upset if Jonathan or I try to help her go to the bathroom. She's feeling very independent right now, which I like.
She seriously makes me laugh every day with her little grown up comments. The other day I was driving to the library for story time and I said "Dangit!" She asked, "what's wrong mom?" I told her that I had forgotten my phone at home and she said, "I got my phone!" Then she held up a little thermometer that she had brought from home. She put it up to her ear and started talking on it. After a moment she says, "Hello? Hello?" then starts hitting against her car seat and says, "Work Stupid Phone!"
Unfortunately I have not gotten out of the habit of saying stupid and dumb... and fetch and retarded and a few other things. And little 2 year olds pick up that stuff pretty quick I have come to find out. She now refers to our computer as "the dumb puter". I'm working on it.
Emma is a little mother to Brooklyn. She is constantly watching out for her and tells me immediately if she puts something in her mouth. The only downfall is she tries to discipline Brooklyn by yelling at her, hitting her (didn't get that from me) or telling her to go to timeout. She's always telling me how cute Brooklyn is and loves to give her hugs and kisses, although they end up a little violent sometimes.
Brooklyn is such a little sweetheart that LOVES her mamma, or maybe it's just the food. Anyway, she laughs all the time and lately she has begun to fake laugh which is so cute. She crawls and stands up hanging onto things. She loves pestering Emma. Emma fell asleep on the couch today and Brooklyn would not leave her alone, she wanted desperately to play with her big sister.
I love them so much! That's all for now. Until next time.
